Im not sure that playing a sport in High School is relevant to the discussion, but yes i played baseball in High School for two years. Granite City made the best possible decision in choosing to leave this conference and whatever reason they gave is fine with me, but i know losing football games 58-0 was factored in somewhere. After years and years of it, finally it got old. Collinsville would be wise to follow suit. I see coaches of teams of 8 year old kids that run up the scores, at least East St. Louis can claim they are playing for ratings. If its so much fun win or lose, whats the difference if they win 14-0 or 58-0? Im not sure its much of a high to be on a team just to be the player to say, "If it wasnt for that tackle i made we would have lost 65-0" Its a much better situation to know before the season begins that if you do everything well, and play hard you have a chance to win every game on the schedule. These are still kids, let them learn at the next level what it feels like to be hung out to dry.
