Yes, i understand the quarterback is a fine player, but most of all i think they just cant compete in that conference. Edwardsvilles top running back also didnt play and so the replacement ran wild. After GC went 2 and 0 I reminded some not to confuse those teams with the conference schedule. The conference is actually down this year as this was the first win of the season for Edwardsville and Ofallon is struggling also. For years and years East Side usually mashes evryone except when once in a while Edwardsville beats them. Belleville West and Ofallon go back and forth and Granite City, Belleville East and Collinsville seldom win unless they play each other. Belleville East is probably the best of the bottom dwellers, but its been a long damn time since ive seen them be any kind of a factor. I finally just came to terms with it, but it wasnt easy. These are just kids and the bigger schools with the best coaching is going to win most of the time. Even an 0 and 3 Edwardsville team was able to dismantle Granite City and they will probably do the same thing to Collinsville and this season probably Ofallon. Belleville East might win 3 more games at the most and finish well below 500, but they are still capable of beating the hell out of lesser talented teams. Granite City is smart to leave this conference, because i think they came to realize that things on many fronts just werent ever going to get better. Maybe they can play schools with smaller enrollments and become the East Side of those teams. There are times i wish that Belleville East would bolt too, since although they compete well in the other sports, they cant hang with the big boys of the conference in football. I hope the GC QB isnt hurt bad, as he may be talented enough to play division one somewhere.
