It is presumptuous to say all the teachers are "top notch", I agree. However, it is not debatable as to whether the teachers in the district have received an Illinois teaching certification. It is also not debatable that the skills they learn "x" number of years ago no longer apply. Teachers continue to study and practice the newest teaching techniques available. It doesn't matter how trained a teacher is when the students aren't expected to learn in school. I learned in school because I was brought up to behave a certain way. There were kids in the exact same classroom settings who were leagues away from comprehending the same information that took me little to no effort. I'll grant you that nepotism has brought down the overall quality across the board, but not a significant amount. I also concede the fact that teachers lack the professionalism they once displayed. But, ultimately, that's on us. Correct your child's teacher. No teacher wants to be the most uneducated person in a room. I don't want to split hairs here, but I graduated this millennium. That could be perceived as several years ago by some. But, since I graduated I went to college, married, started a family, and bought a house in downtown GC. I am investing my life and the future of my family into this town. Would you do the same? I only ask as a challenge. Too many people want to complain about a situation without acting positively to fix the problem in question. If you truly have a problem, why are you just sitting at home on the internet complaining about it? What will that solve?
