As the mother of an ADD child I can tell you that food colors seem to be the worst triggers. with reds (purples and blues) being the worst. I keep my daughter on the Feingold diet, We also removed other additives from her diet with much improvement. We also use self calming and meditation as tools to help her get control of herself. However, sometimes there comes a point where you may need to consider medication. I would start with your pediatrician and move from there. don't forget that just being an active child is not ADD. What you want to look for is when a child cannot calm themselves down control their thoughts or body after the age of 5 to 6. I don't mean won't I mean the child who can't no matter how hard they try. The cheapest easiest thing you can do first is to remove all artificial colors for 2 months. It will take a minimum of 30-40 days to remove the colors out of the brain before you will notice a behavior change.( you need to check every bite that goes into your child's mouth and if they go to school inform the teachers so they don't taint your trial with goodies) Check things like candy pickles fruit snacks juice jello puddings fruit cups and canned fruit(mainly the cherries) yogurt's Check out this site for more information
