I see your above quoate by MLK. A curch leader, who got involved in government. his faith guided him. something i would never prohibit. but his faith was not what dictated his political action. leading the civil rights movement was not a religious chore. it was not done in the name of his god, it was not a teaching of his religion pushed upon the masses... it was an issue concerning humanity - equality for all human beings despite the color of their skin. he was religious - but he was also a highly educated and powerful speaker - he was a black man standing up to the injustice against all black people. Organized labor, organized religion, they have their parallels for sure. yeah...they are both organized. that is the only parallel. there is nothing written in our constitution that prohibits laborers from organizing. there is also nothing that prohibits people from freely choosing their own religion if they wish. big difference; there is no "seperation of labor unions and state" statement anywhere in our constitution. if a labor union attempts to lobby funds to politics - they are doing so out of their own pockets. if a church attempts to lobby funds to politics - they are doing so with tax exempt charitable donations. it honestly is that simple.
