i would look at each topic and approach it with the best concerns of everyone most in mind...while holding dear the concept of liberty. i would definitely play the political game - and i would take a stance on some issues which appealed to a certain base. since i support unions, promote science funding, and generally progressive on social issues, my platform would likely appeal more to those on the left. my platform would seek to tax the rich and reel in wasteful spending, to pay for the expensive wars. my main focus would be reducing the size of our military by cutting their budget by 33% over 8-12 years. doing this would allow for a reduction in taxes for the middle class, or having that money spent on other programs that help the people. i would remove tax exemption from churches. or...i would severely punish any religious tax exempt organization for contributing any funds to political campaigns. i would try to change the way we held elections in this country through campaign finance reform - abolish the electoral college - and attempt to find better ways to represent our people in an age where information and technology connects us all. i would give massive tax breaks on american made goods - and increase applied taxes on imported goods to make them comparible to prices of goods made through fair labor practices insured in this country. i would attempt to reform welfare - by abolishing link entirely and creating government run food banks that offer healthy food. i would try to stop all the subsidies to corn. i would invest - at all costs - in clean energy and education and transportation; infrastructure. i would be an advocate for world peace and work with the U.N. in order to maintain it. above all else - i would tax the rich. i would increase their taxes to what they were under eisenhower (91%) or nixon (70%). i would try to preserve social security and make sure that everyone who paid in gets what they were planning on having. if that meant assuming some debt to wait out the baby boomers - so be it. i would stop the war on drugs, the war on terror, and any other war with an enemy who lacks a face.
