I see your above quote by MLK. A church leader, who got involved in government. Good point, machine, though he is often called Dr. King now, he actually preferred to be addressed as "Reverend". Also, the bulk of the anti-slavery movement was Christian, the 1st anti-slavery organization in North America was founded by Quakers...
