I haven't commented on this topic just because jail and prison in general hits too close to home with some personal things going on right now. However, I will say this. I don't support the death penalty either. Knowing someone in prison, I know how much things can get screwed and how sometimes people are accused that are innocent, regardless of DNA, etc. So I can't imagine what it's like for someone who is innocent to have to die, or what it's like for the family. Or even if they are guilty, what it's like for the family.
On the victim's side of it, if it were to happen, again, I wouldn't want the death penalty. I think I would be in a state of mind at first to want vengeance and a slow torturous death. However once I got in mind again, I still wouldn't want the death penalty. Because I would want that person to remain in jail and be reminded of what he done, knowing he wouldn't have any freedom for the rest of his life.
