By long failed, do you mean nearly doubling AA school applications in the last two years and getting licensure in one or more states each year? Not so sure why you make SUCH an issue about the dependency on MDAs. Most places have AAs and CRNAs working side by side... interchangeably and under the supervision of an MDA. The vast majority of CRNAs choose to work in that type of ACT model. Its a great environment to work in. I'm glad that the option is there for CRNAs to practice without an MDA present if they so wish (for those few that do take advantage of that opportunity). Otherwise, although from different backgrounds, a practicing AA and practicing CRNA give the same quality of care day in and day out. Not so sure where your "indisputable" facts about this "failed" experiment are coming from.
