"...Why the hell am I going to commit myself to a group than cannot support me, is controlled by an orginization with an agenda that may not be in sync with my own and has limited avenues for practice. ..."-----------
I don't plan on practicing on each and every state. I can find and establish a home in Texas, Georgia, or Florida. Location is not a problem. As I've mentioned before, I am indifferent to independent practice or ACT. In short, I honestly don't think I would have a problem being an AA.
There is nothing wrong with joining a small group. Small is not synonymous to weak. We are not disputing with the ASA, not because the AA profession is weak, but simply because we don't have the need to. Many AA's are happy where they are. Pioneers make a difference in this world.
Let's turn the table. The population of CRNAs is much much bigger, and on top of that you have a very strong political machine, which is the AANA. The AANA vs. the ASA war has been going on for decades. Who do you think is winning?.....(this is an innocent question; don't think I'm implying something here.)
Do you belive that the AANA can abolish the ACT model, the anesthesiology profession, and the ASA?
