Of course it is not in your interest because you (as a profession) are completely dependent on anesthesiologists. Now if you were in my profession how would you feel if a tool were going to be used to attempt to dismantle your profession, because that is what AA's are to the ASA tools. Not you personally but your profession. If AA's wanted independence then I would support them or if the ASA were not hell bent on bringing me to heel I would support AA's. Thank your Boss for the situation. If you are not yet invested in AA school take the extra time get a nursing degree and go the CRNA route. If anesthesia is your goal you will much happier for it. You may be independent or ACT if you wish. You will have a choice.
