The CRNA's on this board are afraid of the competition AA's pose to them in the future. After all, now that Nurses can practice Anesthesia Independently and convinced our legislators they can do it all only cheaper why would they want another provider (AA's) to mess with this success? AA's represent another Group of providers that take work AWAY from their members. In short, CRNA's hate the very concept of AA not because of the "team approach" but because AA's hurt the AANA agenda of total dominance.
AA's are EQUAL to CRNA's and do NOT generate more money for MDA's. The FACT is that MDA's make more money from CRNA's and this is the number one reason practices are a bit reluctant to hire CRNA's. The other reason is that CRNA's HATE AA's as a group (not individually) and this creates disharmony (initially anyway).
So, some CRNA's will resort to just about anything to stop AA's from gaining any ground in the marketplace. A good place to start is on this board so prospective AA's students never apply.
