    Thank you for all the good information. It seems to me that if the 4/40 screw has to turn 30 degrees each time the gun is opened it would cause the screw to back out. Conversely, if no one sees this as a problem it musn't happen often, or at all?? The loosening effect would probably stop when the screw is not feeling any friction from the receiver. If the screw had a shoulder on it, it could be tightened against the shoulder and lever to prevent it from backing out. As there is no harm in removing the screw because of the counterboring maybe a low strength locktite might be in order. But for now I'll leave it as is because the gun will never get a much use.
