Jim, I have put that small screw in the way you are saying, ONCE. Between all the pressure, trying to tighten the trigger plate housing and tighten the bottom tang screw, I stopped. I know that the workers for Hunter Arms did it this way because in Brophy's book and John's book there is a picture of a worker doing it. I don't do several dozen guns a day. I do it when I get a new gun and want to take it apart and look at it and clean it. This is the method that the late Russ Ruppel showed and I like it, no problem of it slipping and marring the metal or gouging the wood. This is the second one I made, bought a 6" quick release clamp from Harbor Freight, put a pad on it and does a great job.
