Despite your feelings about the Mayor etc, the opening of this new restaurant downtown is GOOD news. Baby steps, the economy sucks so the fact that this individual and his partner recognize that there is a concerted effort to redevelop downtown is very positive. Granite City will never be Edwardsville or Glen Carbon and not because of "hoosiers", it's still full of hardworking people that care about their town and want to support new businesses. I live in rural Pontoon Beach, actually closer to Collinsville than Granite, but the bulk of my property taxes go to the GC schools so I very much want to support local business.
