Yes fair question, but first, mayor and council did give him raise. He wanted as he said he was taking over part of the job fancher left! So 10k was added to his already to high salary! If you do not believe me file a FOIA fo all city books and expenditures! They will get mad, but I have seen a full budget and the waste at city hall payroll is rediculous! To fix problems- term limits on mayor and alderman, eliminate city inspection department and turn over to fire and police. 10 percent pay cut to department heads! No city vehicles given to anyone except fire chiefs, police chiefs and detectives. Mayor can buy his own car. This will free up large funds to use towards economic development. Tear down old YMCA, old TJ's next to city hall and shut down relax inn and destroy it! Force life safety and fire codes on slum lords, and if it's legal, make ordinance that if you own rental property in Granite City you must turn in maintenance records and be inspected monthly! Start taking out section 8 housing and do not create any new ones. KP is gone! The new ones built need to be made a higher level to keep from turning into what KP became. Not allowing commercial buildings, business and churches to be built looking like a slapped together metal barn. The church by old lake school is a eye sore and ruined the old bischoff estate! Start getting the right business in a location! Ed has the idea any is better then none and that is so wrong! All the payday loans are bad for the location and the city as a whole! There are locations right in front of Walmart and lowes that have no flood plain issues! Get quality business retail and food there! Steak and shake, red robin, Buffalo Wild Wings ect. Are the kind of things you need. Retail like old navy, kohls and best buy! Stop with the aldi's and save alots!
