Surprised at signing of Quigley, but not going to rush to judgement before having seen him play for us.
Thought the debacle at Accrington showed above all that we desperately need another strong centre back, to cover for the potential absence of either Daniel’s or Monthe, on occasion. Also should put an end to any suggestions that Donaghy can be considered a serious challenger to Hudson as #1 keeper. Even if he has only bruised his hand / wrist and not broken something.
Spurdle thinks we will line up 3-5-2 tomorrow. I can’t see that. Would presumably mean starting a recruit (Quigley) who everyone seems justifiably skeptical about, ahead of the other newcomer (Robson), who we clearly needed (with Leake injured). Nuts, if you ask me.
I would go:
Hudson
Ogle
Daniel’s
Monthe
Robson
Woods
Conlon
Fondop
Hannant
Steven’s
Quigley
Robson comes in to replace injured Leake. Quigley plays target man / hold-up, to allow Fondop to concentrate on attacking, in place of so far ineffective Drummond. Otherwise essentially the same as we fielded against MK Dons. If we play every week the same as we did last Saturday, then we might not score many, but we will do ok. Hopefully Accrington was an aberration.
