I have a skeet gun used by a notable shooter. The gun is a .410 Ideal grade. It was ordered with single trigger, ejectors, 27" barrels and a trap style beavertail forend. The woman that owned it was a second team All American in 1952 and 1953. She was also pictured in the "Handbook on shotgun shooting" copyright 1952 and later on page 58 holding the gun. The caption reads "MRS. Henry Ward Williams of Rochester, Winner of seven places at the 1949 Skeet Nationals and many other honors, demonstrates the perfect "Ready" stance for Skeet in calling for the high-house bird at station 5. She is using an L.C. Smith Ideal Grade double of .410 bore, manufactured by the L.C. Smith Gun Company." My dad gave me a copy of the book when I was 12, and I always wondered about that gun because it was local. The gun turned up at a local show two years ago, and I knew by the forend that this was the gun.I have never seen another .410 with a Trap Beavertail Forend.
