Drew: You are impressive, sir. Talk about an absolute font of knowledge! Thanks for that great selection of resources. I've looked quickly thru that list and from what I've seen so-far, if we were talking about a truly nice lightweight double, I'd have to agree with you. But this is a bit of a different story. This gun is a 10-mag that weighs slightly-over 10-pounds. The 32" tubes look like they could double for bridge-iron (substantial width and heft). I have very little $$$ invested in this plain-but-stout boxlock that was built to shoot these 3 1/2-inch loads. If there was any substantial risk of catastrophic failure (at least more than the usual)I'd stop cold. But....I'd think that I'd see a rib failure long before there were other issues? If folks think I'm really going in harm's way, I'll seriously consider laying it aside and going back to a modern (cringe) 870-pump, but...it works so wonderfully at what it was designed to do. Especially with that cheap and fast(1400+fps) steel. But..I am a new parent and I want to do the responsible thing.... LM
