That's definitely a hell of a barrel failure for certain. I still can't believe that there wasn't some other factor here that led to it rather than just the cartridge itself. Though he said it was several years ago and some of the early bismuth cartridges were really erratic. EDM and I had a bunch of 1 1/8 #6 duck loads down in Louisiana one year and had amazing/scary things happen with them. They were loaded in Eley cases for some reason and we had some massive case failures. Like the entire case separating from the brass, half the case separating from the brass, the whole end of the case coming off all more than once...... What made us decide to stop shooting them altogether was when his gun double discharged twice in a row with the shells due to felt recoil. And these were supposed to be just light 1 1/8 loads here. We saved a bunch of the cases and mailed them to the company but never heard anything back which is exactly what we expected. I've still got some of those shells around, I always meant to cut them open and take out the shot to have reloaded. I'd bought most of them on clearance from a small sporting goods store so I couldn't return them. Destry
