Thanks to all for the responses! A couple of wooden dowels and a little time and I should have the gun, barrel down, in the gun cabinet. As to WD-40, I like it, but generally for short term or immediate uses like freeing stuff up that's stuck, or lubicating something in preparation for cleaning. I just haven't had much success with it as a long term coating or protectant. A GOOD wiping with a silicone cloth and a good cleaning really seems to do pretty well (cleaning before the final wipedown). Thanks again to all.
