I have roughly 100 hours in a CHE that was stored in a leather soft case in New Orleans for 30 years without seeing daylight. all metal was rust brown and it had been hunting in brakish marshes. The barrel repair and refinish cost 600 and that excludes my time on the action and stock. DO NOT store a gun in a case and do use a rust proofing agent on the metal. Simple WD40 is very good the barrels should be draining down away from the wood. bill
