I’m finishing up my 1906 restoration and I’m having an issue. I can cock and release both hammers manually with the side plates manually removed. Some time back I made them work assembled to the gun. Now I can’t. I see no instructions for a hammer gun on the FAQ’s. I’ve pushed the triggers forward like Dave Williamson noted a while back (thank you). My questions are this:
The barrels are off the gun. To reassemble the side plates what position should the top lever be in? I’ve tried both.
Should the hammers be cocked?
Oh I forgot. What’s the procedure for putting the forend back on? I tried but can’t get it on and felt like I was going to break something and didn’t want to force it. Nothing on FAQ’s for that on Hammer Guns.
