David there’s plenty of sear on the plate, a good 1/32 of an inch overhang prior to cocking. Looking in the hole while cocking, the end of the sear moves inward toward the center of the gun, which actually puts the trigger plate just short of halfway across the sear. At the other end of the sear where it catches to hold the hammer back, it obviously moves counter to that, but that end also covers 1/2 of the catch on that end. It just won’t catch while in the gun.
