Me and the Mrs used to work in the same big open plan office, on different but connected teams. She suspected that a younger woman on my team fancied me. I laughed it off but she was right, as we had been doing a bit of a flirty texting for ages. Never went beyond that, and was all pretty harmless really, but not clever and hugely disrespectful. Anyway, once she mentioned it I stopped it and removed her number from my phone.
How did I get caught? About a year later on my birthday, I received a “happy birthday” text from a number I didn’t know. For some reason I thought it might be from this lass, and deleted it, but the Missus had seen it come through, and wanted to know why I was trying to hide it. It all came out, although it really didn’t need to have, when I look back I can’t believe I dig my own grave so needlessly.
Turns out the message was from my sister in law and she had just got a new phone!
Anyway, 4 or 5 years of absolute hell, I was close to walking out so many times but for our little lad. I suspect she didn’t split up with me as she didn’t want to let me off that lightly. What it did do is cure me of any of these types of behaviours.
