A solid first step in improving the district’s performance would be parents getting their students to school. Did you know that GC students have a chronic absenteeism rate double the average in Illinois (30.7% versus 16.5%)? For those that aren’t mathematically inclined, that means 3 out every 10 students don’t come to school often enough to give themselves a reasonable chance at success. That will get you fired when you’re an adult. That’s the standard that’s set at home. The next school board meeting is 1/28 at 5pm. All are welcomed to attend and bring forth your solutions.
