Matt, please don't interpert the ramblings of an old fart as a show of disrespect. I told all the people in another post I salute all of you who take this on. It's a tough task.

What I take exception to is the "newcomers" thinking they have all the answers. Many good people have served the board, the city for years. When times get tough money wise decisions get tough.

The district faces million dollar deficits according to every newspaper you read. When any one of you candidates is willing to say the following, I'll work my rear off to get you elected. Times are that tough and it's sad.

    Hard Nose For School Board:
I will vote to eliminate all non-mandated programs including all extra curriculur sports, clubs, dances etc....
I will make the motion and vote for all educational classes that are not part of an Illinois standard curriculum to be eliminated.

I will make the motion and vote for increasing class sizes to a minimum of 30 until this financial crisis is over.

I will make the motion and vote for the freeze of pay of ALL employee groups in the district and will accept a strike vote by any union that wants to challenge that.

You know how quick this candidate would get elected? When hell freezes over.

Matt, from all I see and read you're an outstanding young man. I think it's great that at your age you want to make a difference. The crusty old fart part of me thinks to serve on a taxing body one should pay taxes and I'm assuming at this point of your young life you don't. Again my last response was emotional as opposed to this one. Please accept them both as advice from someone who has been around the park once or twice.

    Again, good luck to you.
