Superintendent Harry Briggs said the Niedringhaus Elementary School, at 2901 State St., Granite City, is 83 years old and requires at least $1.5 million in renovations. Thanks for the link. The above could answer the question as to how and why close Niedringhaus....the school district does not have 1.5 million to invest in a school building at this time.
