Well for me it is more of a preference, and my habit of saying the pledge, but I am in favor of the Dialogue.
I do not believe taking the words out would harm us as a nation.
I actually tire of the people who insist on keeping GOD in the public view, on buildings, currency, and in the pledge....without first making sure that the teachings they so self-righteously blow their horn about are lived out in their own lives.
I am in a funny middle ground. I don't disagree with "In God We Trust" or "Under God".
The difference to me, is that if all of that were gone, I would not stop being an American and it would make no difference as to how I live my life as a Christian.
And just because people don't agree with me in keeping "In God We Trust" or "Under God" does not make them bad people, nor Anti-God, nor Anti-American.
Most of the fundamentalist propaganda is emotional and fear based -- almost without a trace of rational substance.
