Yep, I used to work at the Fairview Heights Kmart back in Layaway. Once a customer's layaway had been misplaced, either the number was wrong or it had been returned to the floor, either way it was gone. The customers wanted to talk to a manager (understandable). I called the one on duty up, just for him to yell and cuss at me (loud enough that the customers could hear!) and tell me he didn't have time to deal with it, nor was it was his problem and to just "deal" with it.
Luckily, they were very understanding customers and actually regulars of mine, so they didn't blame me. They apologized to ME (while I was apologizing to them profusely) and told me not to worry about it. They then proceeded to go to Customer Service and got the store manager. Not sure whatever happened to him. However, on other days, we had a fantastic floor manager that made it fun to work.
Floor managers at Walmart, Kmart, Target or wherever are just like co-workers and managers at any other work place. Some are jerks, some are okay and some are great. If you have a problem with a floor manager, then complain to the Store manager. If enough people complain, customers and employees, they'll get fired. If it's the store manager, trust me, they'll get their own too. Our Store manager was a thief, and he didn't stay there long either.
I can understand not wanting to shop in a place where you are subject to the idiots, but boycotting isn't really going to help the issue. Also, having to wait for someone forever is a corporate problem, they never give their stores enough employee hours to be able to wait on people the way they should be able to. Again, though, boycotting probably won't help, though complaints may. If enough complaints make their way up the chain of command, they may be afforded more hours.
