My response: Like UAW, did you ever hear of some of the demands they got met in contracts with the auto makers before the bailouts?
Yes I did hear of them, I also heard when the industry was trying to keep them employed, "NO concessions".
Awful mistake.....
But when THEY heard, "plant closings", I heard a lot of bawling union leaders and the offer of concessions.
By then, it was too late, and in most industrial fields, skilled workers make good money, even without a union, I'm sure if machine were on here today, he would tell you.....
As long as companies adhere to applicable laws regarding safety, there's really no need for unions.
