Spring, okay I think in time the public will be told about this. I still don't agree it's something they should necessarily have input on. From what a pretty high ranking person told me, this is simply being discussed. No plans are in motion as of yet and in fact, it hasn't even been presented to the BOE.
Years ago the district went to all day kindergarten. No input as I recall and that worked out great. The kids got more time in school, the parents had no worries about half day care etc...
Years later the district went to middle schools instead of junior highs. Worked out well I guess because I hear no different.
Some years later they moved sixth grade up to accomodate the all day kindergarten and to better group kids by age. That seems to have worked.
Years later the district did some time changes. There was some complaining but it appears to have worked okay. Teachers at the high school tell me their tardies are way down since starting later.
The district put in air conditioning without asking public input. That worked out and now they can start school sooner.
The dress code was subject to public hearings a couple of years ago. From what I saw it turned into a circus. This time they implimented it without the circus. I think it seems to work. Kids look better IMO. However, I know there are people like my good friend Metal who disagrees.
I guess what I'm trying to point out is that there will always be decisions made that some like, some don't like. It's democracy at it's best. When it comes to major issues like spending my money, they went to the public to ask permission. They got turned down and that's okay.
I'll vote election day based on the decisions I like and don't like. I still go back to that premise that the majority of people liked this board or wouldn't have voted them in. Weren't all incumbents elected last time? If memory serves they did.
This is a good thread but don't expect many elected officials to get on here and subject themselves to ridicule by annonymous sources. Horsey does that and I commend her but I don't think you'll see many others.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Despite the tough times this country still offers so much to be thankful for. Hopefully you'll all join in prayer tomorrow to tell God how much you appreciate his bounty. Please don't forget to say a prayer for that soldier eating in a mess tent.
