JDG, I hear what you're saying but actually we all have a voice in our public schools since we pay taxes to support them.
Change is always rough. You mention the different ages of your kids and I understand that but at some point they will be in different buildings based on their ages.
Lisa, I also understand your point but I disagree. If the BOE has to go to the public every time they make a decsion, what's the point of having a BOE to begin with. You trust their decisions or you kick them to the curb every other April.
My guess is this action has something to do with meeting NCLB regulations. From what was in the paper several schools must now offer choice. Bussing kids from Prather to Frohardt cost money so why not look for ways to to eliminate choice?
There are probably more things to come. We can really blame all this on NCLB, a foolishly devised and implemented with impossible goals.
I would only ask and advise BOE members to make this decision, if there is one to make, as soon as possible so parents can be prepared.
