Just go to medical or some other type of graduate school. Don't waste somebody else's spot, who wants to practice anesthesia and only anesthesia. If you want to do medical writing, there are plenty of MD-PhD programs as well as PhD programs that are not anesthesia specific (ie, medical informatics). Besides that, I'm just going out on a limb here, but Id be willing to bet that if you told Professors Wagner, Orr, or Dr. Paulsen that you weren't intending to practice anesthesia, or that your main goal was to get into medical writing, then you might as well have taken all the money you've spent, gone to Vegas, and put it on black. But please do that, because Id love to take your seat! This is seriously ridiculous. If that is what you want to do, then don't go into this profession...you've obviously not spent enough time researching it. PhDs do non-clinical work, not mid-levels. Except for those very select few that teach & practice anesthesia at one of the 5 AA programs, the VAST MAJORITY do clinical work. Thats what we do. Thats what this profession is.
