Another difference between AAs and RNs is that AAs have the autonomy and critical thinking with regards to selecting and "prescribing" the right drugs for their patients.
I'm not sure if RNs learn this, since a lot of them just follow MD drug orders listed on their MARS. At a minimum, they know the names of drugs and their purpose.
But do they learn the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs? For example is a patient is acidotic, would they know the right drugs to prescribe??? Would they know how acidosis affects the drug distribution in the body? Would they know the proper dose to prescribe?
