I work at a Level One Trauma Center Hospital in Texas. My Colleagues I work with the Anesthesiologist Doctors(MDA).The majority of them are moving to Dallas after their residency.I ask them why are you moving to Dallas, Texas instead of staying on as regular staff Anesthesiologist(MDA).
The majority of the anesthesia doctors told me the job market is in high demand". For Anesthesiologist(MDAs)in Dallas.
They also point out to me the job market for AAs/AA-Cs in Dallas were in high demand". Along with CRNAs too.
I think AAs/AA-Cs need to look a Texas as the next state, when it comes to anesthesia provider. and not migrate to Georgia and Florida only.
From what I have read and people talking, Texas is the state with the highest anesthesia shortage. Especially when it comes to MDAs and CRNAs.
This is where AAs/AA-Cs come into the big picture. In the state of Texas you have three major cities #1.Houston,Texas also the fourth largest city in the United States. #2.Dallas and #3.San Antonio.
In some hospitals in Georgia the ratio for AAs/AA-Cs is 80% to 85% over CRNAs. The bottom line is AAs/AA-Cs are filling in the gaps. For the shortage of anesthesia providers.
If AAs/AA-Cs want to get notice and respect. Then I think It's only fair that they need to work in other states were there are very few AAs/AA-Cs practicing.
Prime example the state of Kentucky" you only have two Anesthesiologist Assistants working in that state. Why? Laws can be changed as well as challenged. That's where you AAs/AA-Cs need to start at.
Fight for what's right and for what's fair.
