Because I love surgery. I love every aspect of surgery and anesthesia is one area that would be new to me. I knew that I wanted to get my masters degree. I knew I could go back to PA school and basically do what I am doing now and add doing rounds to it. Why do that and pay 70-100 grand? That didn't seem like I would maximize my potential for getting the masters degree in the first place. Then an anesthesiologist that I work with told me about AA's. I didn't even know they existed. AA's are not well known up here. Anesthesia is an area that only MD/DO's and CRNA's deal with in Pennsylvania. After he told me this, I knew there was another part of patient care and surgery that I could learn about and still be part of the surgical team. So why not learn all aspects of surgery?....That was my thinking.
