Sometimes you can get decent "steak fries" in restaurants. And yes, certain places do sell fish and chips, but not as easy to find here as it is there.
I would be willing to try all those sauces. *salivating now just thinking of salt and vinegar together* (Btw, a supermarket near me started making salt & vinegar chicken wings, and it's sooo good!)
There was a Greek restaurant here I loved to go to because they would make "Greek fries" which were basically whole potatoes (skin on) cut thickly and deep fried, then served with a garlic mayo sauce. It was so addicting! But then they started cutting their fries thin, like the fast food restaurants do, and it wasn't the same. *sad*
TMT used to tell me that I must've been Irish in a past life because of my love of anything potato. She might be right. What I found funny though was when she told me that the best chips in England were often those made in the Chinese restaurants.
I once had frites in Belgium with sauce Andalouse....it was heaven. Damn, I guess I have to make some fries in the oven tonight. Not quite the same, though. *sigh*
