Greetings!
The Anne Arundel County Retired Police and Fire Fighters need your help with a project that i s near and dear to our
hearts. We have established the Anne Arundel County Police and Fire Wall of Honor Fund. I t is a 501(c)(3)
Charitable Corporation established for the purpose of erecting and maintaining a Wall of Honor dedicated to those
who have served the citizens, businesses, and visitors of Anne Arundel County. It will include a granite monument,
benches, landscaping, lighting, a flagpole, etc. A rendering is attached.
This project will be 100% privately funded.
End Quote!
As many of you know I married Norm Wedemeyer’s oldest daughter Michele Sims #563 who also served. What you may not know is her mother Mary Margaret also served in the Fire Marshall’s Office as a civilian employee and she retired from there.
As a family we did the paperwork for each member who served for a brick on the wall.
Today I received notification that my wife who resigned in good standing and was sworn to start our family was not eligible to be put on the wall even though she had served but had not retired. They also said Mary Margaret was not eligible even know she served and retired but was not sworn.
I am sorry this is an Honor Wall for those who have served. Picking and choosing reasons to exclude those who have served is not acceptable.
