The qualifications for being honored on the wall seem pretty straightforward to me. RETIRED police officers and firefighters. Those who were in it for the long haul. Those who sacrificed and made it a career. Whose family also sacrificed along the journey. I’m sure there are hundreds of people out there who wore the uniform at one point but decided to take another path in life. God bless them and thank you for your service. But this wall is to honor the men and women who turned a career into a life style. As for retired civilians, their contributions and dedication are no less important to the mission we were all a part of. But they did not wear the uniform and take the oath. This is evident by the award ceremonies where sworn and civilian awards were made separately. This is my take and I will be humbled and honored to join the wall.
