The definition of who is eligible to be on the wall has changed. The committee who worked so hard to make this a reality when they submitted the paperwork decided to define eligible as former Police Officers and Firefighters only. It does not for the purpose of the wall restrict it to retirees only. We have a few officers who served just as we for short periods of time that gave up things just as we did to serve.
Do you really think the short term folks would really want to be apart of this great project without special circumstances? I know of two officers who served who have been turned away as their eligible family members wanted to honor their service and have them on the wall with them.
I do think excluding the civilians who served misses those who also gave up a lot to support us and at one time or another saved our A**. Not to mention the possible monetary benefit. This is a topic for a different day.
Once again I support the project. There are some things that need to be addressed.
