    Thanks all for these perspectives.

    Drew, I checked one of local Wal-marts today. Plenty of 1 1/8 @ 1200fps. Nothing slower, or lighter. But I understand from your post that 1oz or less at less than 1200fps is fine. That's mostly what I needed to know.

    I understand as well that my integrity of the stock is one of the critical issues, and no, I do not want to wreck my stock. Currently it's in great shape, and I would reinforce it but am hesitant to take that on because I do not want to risk screwing up the Hunter One. I understand that they can be difficult and sensitive to how tight the frame is to the stock.

    The main reason I wanted to find a sound ammo choice was around the barrels. These are chainlink Damascus, ring true, have good thickness (I think) and nothing I can see to indicate they are unsafe. I don't want to blow myself up.

    I like old gun, but cannot "collect" per se. What I have, I want to shoot, a lot.

    Thanks for helping me get to the bottom of this and determine a baseline target ammo spec to use.
