Thank you. As annoying as yet another thread like this may be, I do appreciate it. I'm trying to get to the bottom of my particular gun, and the ammunition I can most easily get. Thanks for your patience.
The hang tag info in the linked document states:
The U.S. makers listed appropriate loads on Hang Tags:
Standard loads found on L.C. Smith hang tags: 12 gauge.....3 dram…....1 1/4 oz. shot (1887 - about 1920) ...................3 dram…….1 1/8 oz. shot (after about 1920)
So it would seem that if the stock is sound, action is tight, lock up is good, and on the face that today's modest target loads are fine.
