Hello Sgt. The details of the older 2E were "posted", most likely by computer glitch- in a response to a member named Mike- his post is entitled "What shells shall I use?". The barrels on this 1074 serial numbered 2E 12- and yes it does have ejectors, and they really work with snap caps- are marked NP as detailed. I doubt if this older Smith was rebarreled, but I am going to sent in to Mr. Stubbendieck for the letter. Will be a $40 well spent indeed. I wonder if his research will show when this gun was returned to the factory in Fulton for the raised ventilated rib? There are no markings on the rib anywhere. I used a dentist's angled mirror to carefully look under the rib, between the 11 posts. I believe the original rib was milled down a bit, re matted, and the 11 recessed mounting holes for the most unusual shaped posts were then milled in place. This gun has a measured 3 inch chambers, fairly heavy walled barrels at breech and muzzle, as compared to my 1907 Grade 2 non-ejector Smith with 30" barrels. The ONLY markings on this older 12 gauge Smith with the raised ventilated rib are the L.C. Smith on each sidelock in the front area of same.
