Apparently my mistake, as a new member to this organization, and a recent owner of a 2E 1907 vintage. I wrongly assumed the 2 Grade was the predecessor to the post-1913 Ideal Grade, and I was in error. I did re-enter the site with a new thread about the older (Syracuse NY mfg.) 2E with a possibly later installation of a raised ventilated rib.
Where I erred, apparently, was in my attempt at transpositon of L.C. Smith grades-ie: O Grade=Field Grade, 1 Grade=Ideal Grade 2 Grade=Specialty, etc--I very much appreciate Mr. Murphy pointing out the error, and I will be sure to do my homework prior to my next posting.
I am planning to purchase the older 2E with the rib, and also possibly the 1907 Catalogue from the E-Bay site, and will be most pleased to share same, should that happen, with the paid membership of this forum.
