Sorry about the delay, only just getting the workshop computer set up again.
The MAF is almost new (6 months max and genuine)it was replaced in the last round of trying to fix this problem.
The pump timing was setup using the TDI checker plug in on Vagcom (VCDS now)but the timing accuracy is not as good as I would expect.
Kev, when you say timing I take it you mean the cam timing? This is my hope and I have sent the garage away to check it.
