Well, it’s likely to. Marginally. Since the FA (PGMOL or whatever they call it now) does promote / relegate referees based on their performance assessments.

A couple of things I was wondering about - if anybody knows:

1. When there is a retrospective appeal against a red card - does the adjudicating panel invite the match referee to review/ possibly reverse his original decision, with the benefit of hindsight & tv replays. Like a retrospective VAR? Would seem sensible approach.

2. How much weight do the refs oversight body put on such a proven error? I don’t know, but guess would be that they don’t take any account of the scale of impact of the error. I.e. - completely ruined the game for us and arguably cost us 3 points — but likely assessed on the ref by merely marking him down from (say) a 7/10 to a 6/10. Same as if he had made the same error at the end of the second half, when we were already 2 or 3 down and therefore had no impact on the outcome of the match.
