Rub of the green, bounce of the ball, Luck of the Irish etc, are all merely sayings. This is a mistake by a referee, and he obviously got it wrong.
I have watched the highlights a couple of times and the ref was very close to the incident. I think he was surprised by GSMs pace and commitment, GSM had just tackled two players one after the other and the ball was still not under control by anyone. In other words he had all the right to go for it. My initial thought was it’s a foul. But again the ref got conned by a cheat. Don’t think their player was injured at all and someone mentioned he winked to his bench.
How do these con artists sleep at night. The ref got it wrong and he shouldn’t have, he was very close to the incident.
I like GSM, he’s a good honest, committed player in my opinion. I don’t like fake players even in our team, I think it’s ruining the game as has just happened.
