How does yesterday become rock bottom, and a sign that the hierarchy - at management, boardroom or both - uses it as impetus for a fresh start.
As painful as Wilshere’s post-match interview was, it was notable that he now seems to realise fans’ anger is at least in part because the football has been relentlessly crap since 2024, and that he’s just the latest instalment of it.
The club had the media day with the podcasters when Wilshere was appointed. If it has any answers on what to do now, it needs Sweet to face those same people again. Or, at the very least, to acknowledge Loyal Luton’s statement and meet them, setting out why Sweet is still the man to lead the club.
If they choose to stay silent, or only communicate via programme notes, this is only going to continue to fester.
