Kent Tungsten Matrix Shells Archived Message

Posted by Tim McNamara on November 29, 2017, 7:30 pm

I have read the material posted on safe loads for L.C. Smith shotguns but it is still not clear to me whether it is safe for me to use Kent Tungsten Matrix in my gun. Here are the details:

L.C. Smith 12 g Field Grade made in 1948. Full and improved modified chokes. The stock was replaced in the early 1980s, and is effectively new, as the gun has only been used a few times since then. A gunsmith recently assessed the gun as sound and in excellent condition.

The shells are Kent T-M 2.75 in, 1.375 load, 1375 fps, shot size #3.

I realize that these shells will carry a wallop. That doesn't bother me. I just want to know whether I can use them safely to hunt ducks. My guess is that I won't shoot more than two dozen of these in a year...probably many fewer than that.

    Thank you.
